A Google Business Profile is the free listing that shows your business on Google Maps and in local Google results, with your hours, phone, photos and reviews. To get one in Morocco: go to google.com/business, sign in with a Google account you control, add your business name, category, location and phone, then complete Google’s verification, which is often a short video of your premises. After that, the profile works for you only if you keep it complete, accurate and active, with real photos and replies to every review.
This guide is written by Kolchi In One (KIO), a digital agency in Casablanca. We create and manage Google profiles for our clients, and we have seen what this free listing can do: for one Casablanca restaurant, it produced 977 direct customer actions in five months, including 473 requests for directions and 309 phone calls.
Why so many Moroccans are searching for it right now
On Google Trends, among the fastest-rising searches in Morocco around Google Business Profile over the last 90 days are its names in the Google interface itself: “نشاطي التجاري” in Arabic and “mon entreprise” in French. Business owners are clearly trying to find and set up their listing. The good news: it is free, and it takes less than an hour to do properly.
What your profile does for your business
- It puts you on Google Maps when someone near you searches “café”, “dentiste Maarif” or “garage Tanger”.
- It turns a search into an action: one tap to call, get directions, open your website or see your menu.
- It builds trust before the first contact through reviews, photos and accurate opening hours.
- It shows you real results: the profile’s performance page counts calls, direction requests and website clicks.
Step by step: create and verify your profile
- Use the right Google account. Create the profile with a Google account that belongs to the business and that you will keep. If an agency or employee helps you, add them as a manager. Never let someone else be the only owner.
- Go to google.com/business and click to manage or add your business. If your business already appears on Maps, search for it and claim it instead of creating a duplicate.
- Enter your exact business name, the one on your sign. Do not add keywords or cities to the name.
- Choose your main category carefully. It is one of the strongest signals for which searches you appear in. Pick the most precise one (“Moroccan restaurant” rather than “Restaurant”), then add a few secondary categories.
- Add your location or service area. If clients visit you, place the pin exactly on your entrance, because Moroccan addresses are often imprecise. If you go to your clients (plumber, cleaning, events), set a service area and hide the address.
- Add your phone number and website. Use a number that someone actually answers during opening hours.
- Verify. Google chooses the method. Most often it asks for a short continuous video showing your sign or street, your premises and something that proves you run the business (tools, stock, the register). Sometimes it offers a phone, SMS or email code. Film in daylight, follow the instructions exactly, and do not edit the video.
The settings that actually bring calls and visits
Google says local results depend on three things: relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance and prominence (how well known and well reviewed you are). You cannot change distance, but you control the other two:
- Complete every field: hours, special hours for holidays and Ramadan, attributes, services or products, and a description of up to 750 characters written for clients, not for robots.
- Add real photos and keep adding them: the front of your shop so people recognise it, the inside, your team, your products. New photos every month keep the profile alive.
- Ask every happy client for a review with a short link sent on WhatsApp right after the visit or service. Steady, recent reviews matter more than a burst once a year.
- Reply to every review, good or bad, in the language the client used: French, Arabic, Darija or English. A calm, useful reply to a bad review reassures the next reader.
- Publish updates: a new product, an offer, an event. They show the business is active.
- Keep the name, address and phone identical on your profile, your website, Instagram and directories.
Mistakes that get profiles suspended or ignored
- Keywords in the business name (“Café X Best Coffee Casablanca”). This breaks Google’s rules and can get the profile suspended.
- Fake or bought reviews, or reviews written by staff. Google removes them and can restrict the profile.
- Several profiles for the same place, or a profile at an address where you do not really serve clients.
- Wrong or outdated hours. A client who finds the door closed rarely comes back, and often leaves a review about it.
- Creating it and forgetting it. A profile with no photos, no replies and no updates loses ground to competitors who stay active.
What results look like
In our restaurant case study, the Google profile was where views turned into real customers. Monthly customer actions grew from 125 to 290 between April and August, for a total of 977: direction requests, calls, menu views and website clicks. Your Google profile works best next to a fast website that gives more detail and collects enquiries. If you are deciding what to build, see Website, Web App or Mobile App: What Should Your Business Build in 2026?, or look at our services.
Frequently asked questions
Is Google Business Profile free in Morocco?
Yes. Creating, verifying and managing the profile is free. Be careful with anyone who calls claiming you must pay Google to stay on Maps.
How long does verification take?
Often a few days after you send the video, sometimes longer. If it is refused, read the reason, fix it and try again rather than creating a new profile.
Can I have a profile without a shop?
Yes, if you meet clients in person at their place. Set a service area and hide your address. Purely online businesses are not eligible.
How do I get more reviews?
Ask at the right moment, right after a good experience, and make it easy with a direct review link. Never pay for reviews or offer rewards for positive ones.
Can KIO set up and manage my profile?
Yes. We create or recover the profile in your name, complete and optimise it, and connect it to your website and social media. Write to us on WhatsApp at +212 688 445 399 or through the contact page for a free 15-minute call.
